Barbra Lynda is a marketing professional with over a decade of experience shaping youth-focused brand strategies and culturally driven campaigns across media, events, PR, and lifestyle marketing. Currently serving as Head of Brand, Partnerships, and Marketing at NRG Radio Uganda, she has been instrumental in positioning NRG as a digital-first media platform deeply embedded in youth culture, transforming it from a radio station into one of the most influential youth platforms in urban Uganda. Her career began at just 18, working on the Sprite Slam high school campaign with Pamoja Afriq, where she discovered her passion for connecting brands to culture through authentic storytelling. Since then, she has consistently championed initiatives that bridge creativity with strategy, delivering campaigns that resonate deeply with audiences while driving measurable impact. Key highlights of her career include: -Spearheading NRG’s evolution into a multi-platform cultural hub, expanding beyond traditional advertising into experiential, digital, and culture-led campaigns. -Leading initiatives such as NRG MVP, which nurtured 20 emerging creatives in presenting, DJing, and digital content, and the NRG Breakfast Rave, a groundbreaking daytime party experience for Gen Z. -Playing a pivotal role in NRG’s recognition as Brand of the Year at the 2025 Uganda Marketing Excellence Awards, a milestone that validated the power of youth culture when understood and engaged authentically. -Driving large-scale cultural events, from Davido’s 2024 concert to Nyege Nyege Festival, and championing movements like Etania’s “Becoming the Life of the Party”, which highlighted the intersection of authenticity, identity, and audience connection. Beyond her professional achievements, Barbra is deeply committed to social impact and community engagement. Through initiatives like School NRGizers, she creates spaces for mentorship, confidence-building, and skills training among young people, while also supporting community-driven efforts such as the “Shut Up and Trash” clean-up campaigns. Guided by principles of trust, empowerment, and mentorship, Barbra fosters environments where creativity thrives and people feel supported to grow. She balances hands-on experience with structured learning, currently pursuing her CIM Level 7 qualification, which strengthens her ability to integrate strategic marketing with bold, culture-shaping ideas. Looking ahead, Barbra envisions marketing becoming increasingly human-centered, even in the age of AI. She is passionate about building communities rather than campaigns, co-creating with audiences, and ensuring African creativity is recognized and valued globally. Her mantra is one of creating space and possibility for young people, for bold ideas, and for culture-driven innovation that moves society forward.
