Who is Susan Nsibirwa?

Susan is the current Managing Director of Nation Media Group. She is a Marketing and Communications professional with over 25 years of experience with 15 years of senior executive roles successfully leading Corporate, Marketing & Communications teams and departments across diverse industries.

She also has proven experience in successfully implementing Strategic Corporate Social Responsibility Programs

Evolve Africa Marketing Council unanimously voted Susan as the UMEAS 2025 Marketing Pioneer award winner based on her marketing leadership style and skillset as Managing Director of Nation Media Group Uganda (NMG-U), driving innovative digital-first strategies that redefine media monetization and audience engagement in East Africa hence making her our 2025 Marketer of the year.

She rose from a Mass Communication intern at Daily Monitor to lead NMG-U since 2024, overseeing brands like Daily Monitor, NTV Uganda, KFM, Dembe FM, Spark TV, and Nation Couriers.

Her 25-year journey spans marketing at Vision Group (Head of Marketing and Communications, 2011-2019), MTN, dfcu Bank, co-founding Urge Uganda (full-service agency focused on strategic marketing and PR), and Ayiva Consulting Solutions.

Susan is first female MD at NMG-U, a subsidiary of East Africa’s largest media group.

She chaired Uganda Media Owners Association (2016-2018) and earned recognition from Africa Centre for Media Excellence for stewardship.

Under Nsibirwa, NMG-U prioritizes “digital first” approaches, flipping traditional models where clients now demand digital-led strategies extending to print and broadcast for optimal reach.

She advances digital transformation by skilling NMG teams for ambitious financial targets and monetizing assets like NTV and Daily Monitor through innovation and technology. Partnerships, such as with Uganda Tourism Board for content amplifying “Explore Uganda” branding and Equity Bank for regional visibility, showcase her foresight in destination marketing and economic storytelling.

Susan’s ethical, insight-driven leadership delivers commercial value, boosting brand equity through client collaboration, and reorienting teams for growth in election year and beyond.

Her mantra “making a positive difference every day” fuels inclusive strategies enhancing Uganda’s media landscape.

Having mentored, supervised, and groomed over 300 marketing and communications professionals directly.

Susan holds an MBA from the University of Nicosia, Cyprus and a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from Makerere University

Susan is also a member of the Charted Institute of Marketing-UK (MCIM) among her various academic qualifications
