Maryann Michuki serves as the Chief Business Solutions and Marketing Officer at dfcu Bank Uganda, where she is spearheading the institution’s transformation and brand evolution. In this capacity, she oversees the design and management of innovative, profitable products that generate new revenue streams while enhancing customer value. Her leadership is central to positioning dfcu as a sustainable, forward-looking financial partner in Uganda’s competitive banking sector.

Her strategic vision was pivotal in marking the bank’s Diamond Jubilee, reinforcing dfcu’s legacy as a trusted institution while unveiling a refreshed identity under the guiding mantra “Going Further, Together.”

Previous Experience

Stanbic Bank Kenya

  • As Head of Innovation, Michuki introduced groundbreaking solutions for underserved markets in agriculture, trade, and informal savings.
  • She developed financing models for tea and dairy value chains, leveraging platforms like the Tea Electronic Billboard and OneFarm to connect stakeholders seamlessly.
  • She launched the Stanbic Chama App, empowering community savings groups with digital tools for investment and wealth creation.
  • Through Stanbic Kilele, she advanced Banking-as-a-Service, distributing core banking capabilities via APIs for payments and reconciliation.
  • Her digital initiatives, including end-to-end customer on boarding, increased client acquisition by 350% and significantly reduced turnaround times.

In her role as Acting Head of Brand and Marketing, she amplified Stanbic’s regional presence through targeted campaigns and events such as the Stanbic Yetu Festival, driving customer engagement, loyalty, and usage.

Squad Digital (WPP Group)

  • As General Manager and Business Director, Michuki delivered immersive brand experiences and revenue growth for major clients including Safaricom, KCB Bank, and Kenya Airways.
  • She led successful campaigns such as Timiza and UAP Go+ app launches, and behavioral change initiatives like M-Shwari’s savings challenges, which boosted adoption, optimized costs, and expanded market share.

Philips East Africa & Safaricom

  • At Philips, she built digital capabilities across multiple sectors.
  • At Safaricom, she rose from intern to Senior Manager, pioneering integrated digital strategies that earned regional recognition and significantly grew paid media investments.
